After years of dreaming and finally moving to Tennessee from Michigan, Sam, and Liz, along with Liz's husband Jon, who also happens to be Sam's brother, brought home our first goats in the spring of 2021 and Harvest Sky Farms was born. What was originally supposed to be a small herd of 4 or 5 Nigerians quickly snowballed in 2022 into over 30 Nigerian Dwarfs and then in the fall of 2022 we decided to add Alpines to our herd and we brought home 7 Alpines to start.
We are located in beautiful Rock Island and we are so blessed to live on the family property where Grandma, Grandpa, Sam, and Jon and Liz's big ole family of 6 kids, are just a short walk away from each other.
We focus on breeding to improve breed standards and milk production. We do participate in the DHIR program where all of our ladies are tested monthly to track their milk production. We also dabble in showing, which has been a great learning experience for us and the kids who enjoy coming along and getting goats in the ring. Along with the goats we have 2 Great Pyrenees and 2 Anatolian Shepherds who watch over our herd.
We also have a flock of chickens that give us the most colorful and delicious eggs. In the spring of 2023, we started hatching out Cream Legbars (who lay gorgeous blue eggs). Our gardens are growing into larger plots to help feed the family and the animals alike. Bee hives are coming soon!
We pray that God will continue to bless us on this little farm and allow us to continue to grow our ability to provide quality goats, chickens, eggs, produce, and honey to others.
A great way to keep up to date with all that is happening at Harvest Sky Farms is through our Facebook Page.
